Instructions:

  1. Cook the Spaghetti:
Boil a large pot of salted water. Add the spaghetti and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Drain the pasta and set aside.

  2. Prepare the Sauce:
Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and cook until softened. Add the minced garlic and cook for another 1 minute.
Add the ground beef to the skillet, breaking it apart with a spoon, and cook until browned. Drain any excess fat.

  3. Make the Tomato Sauce:
Stir in the diced tomatoes, tomato paste, sugar, salt, pepper, oregano, and basil. Let the mixture simmer for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally, to allow the flavors to meld together.

  4. Combine Pasta and Sauce:
In a large mixing bowl, combine the cooked spaghetti with the meat sauce. Stir well to coat the pasta evenly with the sauce.

  5. Assemble the Baked Spaghetti:
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Transfer the pasta and sauce mixture to a greased 9×13-inch baking dish. Sprinkle grated Parmesan cheese on top, followed by the shredded mozzarella cheese.

  6. Bake:
Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake for 20 minutes. Then, remove the foil and bake for an additional 10 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.

  7. Serve:
Let the baked spaghetti cool for a few minutes before serving. Enjoy your delicious homemade Baked Spaghetti!
